Brown Bat
Our remedy for brown bat control
First, contact us. Effective brown bat exclusion and control involves making your property less appealing to them; sealing as many holes and cracks as possible in the outside of your home. Install a chimney cap to prevent bats and other animals from accessing the interior of your home. Stuff large holes or cracks in the structure of your home with steel wool or wire mesh before sealing with caulk or foam. If bats are already present inside your attic or home, a one-way valve installed by a professional will allow existing populations to leave, but not return to the interior portion of the structure.

How to Identify a Brown Bat
Appearance
Body is 2.5 to 4 inches long, with short, round ears, small eyes and a wingspan of up to 11 inches. Light to dark brown in color. Droppings are dark brown rod-shaped with sparkly flecks (from insect wings).
Habitat
Brown bats are the most common in our area among all bat species. They sleep and groom during the day and naturally control insect populations while hunting the skies as nighttime pollinators. Hibernation happens about 4-6 months out of the year in the Midwest when insect populations aren’t readily available. During their most active months, young are born in late June/early July. They can enter your home through holes in soffit vents, around cables entering the building, and through turbines and box vents on the roof. They can squeeze into tiny crevices and often take up residency in attics away from human activity.
Diet
Moths, wasps, mosquitoes, other insects.
