Saving Goals & Saving Literacy Across Chicagoland
For many years, Rose Pest Solutions has proudly partnered with the Chicago Wolves and Bernie’s Book Bank to support children and families throughout the region. Together, our organizations have built a powerful Chicagoland literacy partnership. Our shared goal is simple: put more books into the hands of children who need them most. By working together, we connect the excitement of professional hockey with a mission centered on reading and education. As a result, this partnership expands access to books for kids across Chicagoland.
Contribute to the March Book Drive!
Each March, we host a community book drive together. Families, fans, and local businesses can donate new or gently used CHILDREN’S books.
How to Contribute:
- Bring donations to Chicago Wolves games on March 15, March 21, March 22, March 29
- If you can’t make it to a game, bring your books to one of our office locations!
- Donate directly at Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff, IL.
Visit the Chicago Wolves book drive page for full details, including a helpful chart that shows which books are accepted and which are not.
Turning Wolves saves into books for kids
Through the Chicago Wolves’ Score for Charity initiative, Rose Pest Solutions created a program called Saving Literacy. The idea is simple. Every time the Wolves’ goalie makes a save during the season, Rose Pest Solutions donates a set of books through Bernie’s Book Bank. Over time, those saves quickly add up. As a result, thousands of books reach children throughout the region each year. In this way, the program shows how a Chicagoland literacy partnership turns moments in sports into meaningful opportunities for young readers.
Celebrating the impact each season
Each season, the partners gather to celebrate the impact of the program. Representatives from Rose Pest Solutions and the Chicago Wolves visit Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff, Illinois. There, they present a check representing the books donated through Saving Literacy. Together, we highlight the real difference this Chicagoland literacy partnership makes for children and families across the community.
Why access to books matters
Research shows that access to books before the age of five can play a key role in a child’s long-term development. For many children, books at home are limited or unavailable. We believe in what Bernie’s is doing to increase literacy right here in our own community. And we’re sharing that mission with like-minded partners to make great things happen.
The organization helps children across Chicagoland build home libraries filled with books that encourage curiosity, imagination, and learning. Through this collaboration, Rose Pest Solutions, the Chicago Wolves, and Bernie’s Book Bank help more kids gain access to stories and resources that support their growth as readers.
Looking ahead
What started as a group of friends getting creative with a hockey-based charity idea has grown into a meaningful community effort. Today, we’re proud to be part of something bigger.
Together, this Chicagoland literacy partnership continues to put books into the hands of children—one save at a time.
